# Inputs

TIP

Sometimes when you add inputs it takes some time for HomeKit to link them to TV. You can try restarting the Home app on your phone, some suggested this will fix the problem. If it's still not working after that just wait, it will link after some time.

Since iOS 12 Apple allows us to add inputs for TVs.

There are multiple types of inputs. With the basic configuration you can open applications or send commands to TV.

If you also have SmartThing API configured you can select specific inputs like HDMI1.

# Settings

# name

(Required) The name of the input to be used in Home app.

  • Type: string
  • Example: Netflix

# type

(Required) The type of the input.

# value

(Required) The value of the input. Depending on what type the input is it can be an application id or a command.

  • Type: string
  • Example: 11101200001

# Examples

# Application type

This option allow you to select an application. You can find a list with applications on the Applications page.

TIP

At the moment Samsung don't have an API to tell us what application is active. But there is an API which we can access that tells us the status of a specific application. That means if you have 5 inputs of this type there will be made 5 requests to the TV in order to check the status of each application.

That's why I don't recommend creating unnecessary inputs of this type because it will flood your TV with requests until the point that it will not respond to anything. Create only the inputs that you are using most often.
